Daddy in Chandigarh πŸ˜Šβ€οΈ

We moved to Chandigarh in 1958. I was 9+ and Deepak, my younger brother 6+.

We used to live in Sector 22, quite far off from Sukhna Lake. But it always had very special attraction for us – especially for Deepak, my younger brother. When we started to visit the lake, almost 60 years back, there was a small tree in the beginning of the lake. For many years now it is a fully grown and a beautiful and healthy tree and Deepak calls it Daddy 😊 Whenever we come to Chandigarh and go to the lake we hug this tree πŸ€— Today morning was one such day…. divine morning ❀️❀️

I vividly remember a day, ages back, when I was still in school. One Sunday morning we (friends) were playing together and the sky suddenly got overcast, with thick black clouds. It turned dark. And we decided to walk to the lakeπŸ˜‚ 6-7 kms from our place. It was such fun getting drenched in the rain and playing and laughing and dancing together.

I don’t think anyone of us was carrying any money — The best things in life are free β€οΈπŸ™

Sukhna is a beautiful lake and so well kept. The shining jewel of Chandigarh, the City Beautiful ❀️❀️ The city was planned by Le Corbusier, the famous French architect.

  1. I have although not stayed in the city beautiful, I had the opportunity to visit & spend many nights in this city. Undoubtedly, a city that has the charm if a major metro & tranquility if a small town

  2. V nostalgic ! Yes, lake was a favourite place for walks, picnics and get togethers and even for romantic rendezvous! It still is one of the favourite places to go for morning walks. Daddy tree is one of the main attractions with young and old !
