A Day well spent πŸ˜Šβ€οΈ

I had got up very early and had intended to stay at home, rest and write (blogging – my current loveπŸ˜ŠπŸ’•) But Ashok proposes and God disposes 😊

Saw a Whatsapp post that a devotee (SRF/YSS) friend had broken her left arm. She is old (though not much older than I am😊) and alone. Last week I had spent many days in getting her debit card and mobile working. Am not so close to her (Let me call her K) but knowing she is alone whenever I can I look K up and do whatever little I can.

After breakfast I had just lied down to rest for a while and heard my conscious calling : What is it Ashok, life is cool for you but what about K? She isn’t well and home alone😌 Luckily I could hear the soft voice and left for K’s place immediately. Oh she was so glad to see me! Seeing her happy and smiling was reward enough for me.

In the Western world senior living is pretty organised and seniors living alone is an accepted fact of life. But not so in India😌 Joint families has been the culture for centuries. But since 1980s more and more children have started to go abroad ( lure of the dollar) and there are millions of sad and lonely parents all over the country. My heart goes out to them all.

K has a son and a daughter, both in the US and are very well off. The daughter at least calls her mom every day. Thank God for these small mercies πŸ™

With God’s Grace I was able to contact another devotee, who is single, to come and help out K for a few months. I love such win win situations. It is going to be good for them both and I can sleep in peace.

So my day was spent well 😊 Long meditation in the morning and evening. A long walk and some cycling in the cool morning breeze. Watching the sun rise. First half of the day with K and then some reading of blogs and exchange of comments.

I had written a few days back : Life has no Meaning πŸ˜‡ and about the meaning of my life : Love Travel Meditate. What I did for K is my definition of love. Service is the active expression of love πŸ’• and it is so fulfilling.

Most of January to April was all the three for me : Love Travel and Meditation. May is Love and Meditation πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ 😊 and from June am back on the road 😊

Am ending my day with this blog. A day of service. A day of gratitude. A day well spent πŸ™

The debate going on in my mind : Shall I write to K’s children or not? I have got their mail IDs.
