What is Your Religion??

I am a Hindu by birth. But if someone asks me what is my religion, I would say:

  • It is KINDNESS
  • It is COMPASSION

And my God is: LOVE

My God is not sitting in a temple or a church or a mosque or any other place of worship. There is no god sitting on any mount or in any heaven!!

The love in our hearts is God! If we are kind, if we are compassionate; we are godly; we are spiritual!

There is no God outside of you. There is no God outside of me.

There is no God who can ever be explained or defined!

Love doesn’t need any language. Love is a feeling and it can only be experienced. Love only needs loving! And God Being Love needs only loving. God too can only be experienced.

Hindu scriptures describe God as: Satchitananda — Sat Chit Ananda

Sat: Ever Existent

Chit: Ever Conscious

Ananda: Ever new Bliss

That is my God. That is the God I worship. That is the God I love. And that is the God I see and feel in the places of worship of all faiths and religions. Once we are filled with love we shall always be blissful.

And ultimately my Father and I are One.  Indian rishis and scriptures had said that too, millenniums ago: I am He. My soul, my love is a vital and inseparable part of the Great Spirit, of Divine Love.

I have made friends and love bloggers from all religions and all countries! (And that is so in my personal non blogging friends too!!) To name just a few: Saba is a Muslim from Pakistan; Jyot is a Sikh – An Indian living in the US; Yeka is a Catholic (believe in a personal God) and lives in Philippines; Huguette lives in Lebanon and doesn’t believe in an orthodox God; Dawn lives in USA and loves Jesus Christ; Betul is from Turkey; Vee is from Canada; Helen (Eilidh) is from England/Belgium, Kamal is from Mumbai and so on ….. I love them all because they are filled with love and kindness.

The Holy Geeta, Bible and Quran sit side by side on the shelves of the bookstores and they never fight! Those who fight are the ones who have never read them or have not imbibed their message of love, universal peace and brotherhood!

There is not and there can’t be any difference in: Christ Consciousness or Krishna Consciousness or the Consciousness of Prophet Muhammad and Buddha; or any self realised being.

There is no God of vengeance and there is no God we should be fearful of.

 God is Love

God is Peace

God is Joy

God is Bliss

God is Patience

God is Compassion

God is Light

God is Purity

God is Beauty

Unselfishness is God

Nature is God

God is in the fragrance of the flowers.

image4.jpeg

God is manifest in every sunrise and every sunset.

God is manifest in the smile of the child and in the hug of a friend.

God is there in every pure emotion and thought.

We are going through very turbulent times. There is so much unrest and uncertainty in the young as well as old. The only way we can help the world is by changing our consciousness; and by not getting sucked into the negativity being spewed by media, the politicians and their allies. Once we raise our consciousness, once we become love; once we tear the veil of separation; we help whole of humanity.

I will love till my last breath πŸ’•πŸ’•

  1. Hindu too by birth.
    Words I live by…
    LOVE and KINDNESS :
β€œLet no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier,
Be the living expression of God’s kindness:
    Kindness in your face,
    Kindness in your eyes,
Kindness in your smile” Mother Teresa

  2. It’s amazing! uncle. God is omnipresent. One can see God in everyone and everywhere. We all should become Sat chit aanand then only we can enjoy every moment of our lives.

  3. I love this post.
Thank you for this and all of your posts.
I feel you are right. We need more people to genuinely understand as you do.

  4. I am a Sikh by birth. But even from childhood, I was amazed so much by nature and never had believed in the idea of following religion by strict practices.
I believe in God and divine power but I like religious practices from all religions, some from Hinduism, some from Islam and also others..
I believe religion is just some practices that you do to connect with the divine and as people are different, those practices are also different and we must be free to chose what we want to practice.
Surely, love is the greatest religion.
    Fabulous post😊

  5. 2 aspects of Hinduism which I strive to upload is dharma (loosely can mean doing your duty with high moral / rightfully) and karma (do good to get good). At end of the day, do to others what you want them to do to you.

  6. This is the cutest thing ever and I’m so sorry for borrowing your words but hence forth if any one ask, my religion is kindness and my God is love.. WowπŸ’•

  7. Thank you so much Kavitha. Let you and I understand it and follow it and the world will take care of itself😊
You have been in my thoughts! Just came back from long travels and was thinking must do Africa next – the only continent I haven’t been toπŸ˜‡

  8. Oh happy travels my friend !!!! No need to participate …. simply wanted you to know that I totally appreciate YOU!!!!! Sending much LOVE!!!! β€οΈπŸ’œπŸ’™πŸ§‘πŸŒ·πŸ’›πŸ§‘πŸ’™πŸ’œπŸ’šπŸ’›β€οΈ

  9. I totally agree with your philosophy on religion.

To me religion is an artificial institution of like-thinking individuals much like an exclusive country club.

I believe in a Creator and don’t need someone telling me what I have to do and think and the special rules and customs I have to follow!

  10. This is such a strong post! I love it! And it explains my feelings so well! God is not an entity that is outside of us.He is for all of us! He is in all of us!

  11. Nice one. It is said that the only temple/church/mosque/gurudwara is right inside you and only you can reach that place if you so desire and when you reach there you will find that formless entity that is pervading everyone and everything. Religion/caste/groups etc are findings & means of human beings till they reach that self-actualisation level. Without any offense meant, many of us get this universal feeling after we make sure that all our basic needs (Remember Maslow’s hierarchy of needs) are met. Very few in the world get this feeling when their basic needs are not met.

  12. Thank you so much Ambrin. You have been in my thoughts. It was travel as well as I was busy with other stuff.
    Am still traveling.
If you post something pls send me the link. I love your stories πŸ˜ŠπŸ€—

  13. What a post to come back with. Was wondering where you have been sir.
Then i knew you are on your travel when i checked a comment on your last post.
    Happy travelling sir😊

  14. ON ENEMIES, FRIENDS AND LOVERS

β™‘ Whether I Perceive You Hinder Me or Help Me with 3DLiving it Doesn’t Matter; because I AM Grateful and Appreciative for Your Contribution to My Growth…and I Have No Obligation to Keep You in My 3DLife; and Neither Do You Have An Obligation to Keep Me in Your 3DLife

    …β™‘β™‘β™‘…

  15. Thank you Jyot.
Yes God is Energy. He is Consciousness.
We too are made in His image and are part of Him, of that energy and that consciousness.
We too are energy. All creation is energy. Difference is only in the rate of our vibrations.
We can raise our vibration, our consciousness- and that helps the whole of creation. That is all we can do – raise our own consciousness and let Him take care of His creation πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜‡
    Love you πŸ€—

  16. Thank you so much my dear Saba. May you always remain filled with love of the divine and for all of His creation.
    I love Sweetie’s Saba the most πŸ’•πŸ€—πŸ’•

  17. My religion is LOVE ❀️ πŸ’•πŸ’–πŸ’—πŸ’“πŸ’žπŸ’

  18. I like to think God as energy that feeds all beings here on earth. I embrace the message of every religion and it’s nothing but love that comes when you purify your own self. Beautiful post Ashokji. and I agree that media feeds on mind’s fascination with negativity. I was addicted to news and media at one point and felt so sad for the things happening in war torn countries. We can’t change a lot of things but we can spread positivity wherever we are, at our workpace, in our neigborhood. Every change starts small.

  19. What a great post after a long time.
There is no faith, belief or religion that preaches violence or hatred, there is only one teaching; peace unto all, love unto all and acceptance…
When you accept someone wholeheartedly you embrace GOD indeed…
    God bless you!

  20. Thank you so much Jenny.
You know all our actions (at their root) spring from two emotions only: Love or Fear. We need to act more from love and once we are more driven by love; our lives become blissful. We come out of shame as well as any Judgment
    Love and blessings πŸ˜ŠπŸ€—

  21. Thank you so much Kamal. Yes Meher Baba is Love as is Paramahansa Yogananda and all realised souls.
    Love and Peace

  22. Thank you so much Prashanti. I truly appreciate this.
Have been traveling and the book is on hold just now. Shall start on it again next month.
    Love from Washington DC πŸ’•πŸŒΉ

  23. Hi Ashok, Such an amazing post. Loved the pictures chosen and your beautiful message “Love” delivered to my heartπŸ₯° Loved the Sat Chit Ananda meaningβœ¨πŸ‘Œ

  24. Love love and more love..it’s an unending fountain…pure & unconditional…touch millions and spread peace and healing. The world needs it.
    Awsm uncle ☺️

  25. This is one of the profoundest post I have come across, Ashok and Meher Baba says all this as u have so rightly said. There is only Oneness in the manyness and we r all one. Religion is humanity and every book of the Lord is one and it is the Avatar taking birth after 700 to 1400 years and comes in our midst as God in human form as the same ancient one who we called Zoroastra, Ram, Krishna, Buddha, Jesus, Mohammed. God was, God is and God always will be. Thanks so much for your acknowledging me as your friend. Hope to have more people with such awareness in this world of ours it is so required. Blessings to you πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

  26. Welcome back Ashok. Lovely post, You write from your core, u capture ur readers complete attention till the end. Hope your book is nearing completion πŸ‘
