Meditation and Fun πŸ˜Ή

A month or so back my son suggested that I should watch a Netflix series he had recently seen. He told me that it was the kind of stuff I used to enjoy. Maybe he was a little concerned that I was meditating too much during lockdown 😹

I started to watch the series and it was rather good. But I stopped watching it when it had reached the climax. My grand daughter asked me one day why had I stopped watching the series, and I told her that it had started to interfere with my meditation! Her response was: “Dadu (grandpa) do 5 hours of streaming one day instead of 5 hours of meditation and you will forget your meditation 😹

I didn’t take her advice 😊 Last week I wasn’t so well and she told me again, “Dadu do 5 hours of streaming and you will get well immediately!”

Children are so beautiful and it is such fun to be with them. I was reminded of another incidence of 6 years back when I had gone to US. I had visited a niece in Washington DC during that trip. One day we went out with her daughters. At one place there were some small water showers/ falls kind of thing and kids wanted to go and play there. I took this opportunity to sit at a little distance and meditate. After a while I felt someone touching me. I opened my eyes and found my niece’s younger daughter, 6 years old Sanajana, staring into my eyes; and she pulled my arms and said, “Come and have some fun. Don’t meditate all the time!”

How sweet, simple and loving children are! I did join them and had such fun 😻

I can’t explain to my granddaughter that playing hide and seek with my Beloved, during meditation is so much fun too πŸ’–πŸ˜Š

But I so appreciate the love and concern of children. Can’t thank God enough for His blessings πŸ’–πŸ™ Yes, balance is so important – Meditation and Fun 😊

Family Friends Fun

This period, when all are at home all the time has been God sent. I have been able to get so much time with Raayna and have been able to understand and appreciate her much more. Soon she would enter her teens and I don’t think she would have much time for her grandpa πŸ‘΄

Dadu and Raayna 😍

  1. I enjoyed your blog-I couldn’t agree more. For me my children have enhamced my life in more ways then I can express and I am always learning from them about the world-mainly how they interact with it and I compare how I did at their age. I pass my experience onto them with mixed reactions!

  2. It is strange Akshita that when I click your site – Infinite Mind it takes me to a foreign language blog? Do you have two blogs?

That is why I had asked – what is your language

  3. Simple and Beautiful, yes Meditation is good but I am having trouble with it. I have even written a blog on the same. But something seems off, would you pls guide me?

  4. Thank you so much my friend. Am so glad the post touched you. There is nothing like sibling bonding. Stay blessed both of you πŸ˜ŠπŸ€—

  5. Such a beautiful and thoughtful post, Ashok sir! It made me wonder what has been a similar silver lining of this period for me and I realised I have grown closer to my sister, since we are both working from home now πŸ™‚

  6. Talking and Playing with children is the most powerful and one of the highest form of meditation is what I feel πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™‚πŸ‘πŸ»

  7. So true Diksha. Thank you so much 😊
And all the best for baking and catching up with family and friends 😊🌹

  8. Ashok, this is such a cute post. I completely agree with those kids. When kids are busy with their studies, we can meditate and when kids are around, watching them itself is a great relaxation. My routine in this new norm of life hasn’t changed much. Busy with usual work, blog and now reviving back my baking entrepreneurship. Video calls with relatives and friends have increased a lot!!

  9. So glad to read about your experience with meditation and fun.
You are right uncle we all should have a balance of everything. Be it meditation or fun, work or life, emotion or any other feeling. Take care uncle πŸ™πŸ˜ŠπŸŒΊ

  10. Yes Ashok, our lives need balance. I know I spend much time in prayer and my devotions, and this is a good thing. I understand how older grandchildren change as I have three who are teens.

  11. Thank you so much Shubhi 😊
New generations are always smarter and it is wise to listen to them 🀣 at least don’t brush their views aside
    Stag safe. Have fun πŸ€—

  12. So simple and so sweet. It’s actually good to see how you adapt to the suggestions by new generation, something that most elders don’t agree with easily.. Keep enjoying Sir πŸ™‚

  13. I can well imagine your feelings on Minecraft 🀣
Yes we are blessed to have children around with their love and purity.
All the best Florence. This too shall pass.
    Stay safe. Stay loved

  14. You’re blessed to have her put smiles on your face, and “guide you on the right path”πŸ˜€. For sure time with the little ones is fun time. Pure and innocent minds! My children have been “pressuring” me since lockdown to pick up playing Minecraft. That’s their favourite game and they think that I would love it if I did. But can’t just try it. I’m not interested. Period. Up till yesterday evening, even when I don’t sit at home anymore, my daughter implored me to give the game a try. πŸ˜€.

  15. So beautiful Ashok, thanks for sharing. I too take periodic breaks to just be with the kids, and it is utterly enlivening, if we are present-minded, as is meditation. Love the photo and the emojis too! πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜ΈπŸ˜»πŸ’›

  16. Thank you so much Nanette. Without any doubt Balance is needed in every aspect of our lives 😊
    Stay safe. Stay happy 😊

    Love and light. Ashok

  18. Beautiful post, balance is so important, we can spend too much time internalising our prayers and thoughts. Having fun is so important too. Enjoy time with your Grand-daughter.

  19. Uncle, it was beautiful to read each line ….i could see it……God Bless You….lots of love to you and prayer for your well being…..sri

  20. You’r right Ashok, it is God sent time for all of us. So much learning. Fortunate are those to be with their families and spending quite time together.
Enjoy every moment with your grand daughter which you can. These moments will not come back. God bless Raayana.

  21. Ashok, what a delightful photo of you with your granddaughter! I enjoyed reading your story very much! For me, the most significant thing about this period of isolation is that I have added this blog to my website and interacted with so many intelligent and creative people. I have also done a lot more writing than usual, and have spent a lot of time walking in the sunshine. Stay safe and happy! Cheryl

  22. Let’s be like children…said JesΓΊs πŸ™πŸΌ Enjoy being funny and simple, Love you Uncle! Lovely picture!

  23. Thank you so much Kamal. I am so glad you are able to video chat with your grandson. God’s blessings πŸ™

  24. Askok I loved this fun loving post of yours. Found it so nice to be reading and yes our grand children add so much spice to our lives. Meditation and being with our beloved is the best enjoyment that we can have but when our grandchildren give us so much love that too is meditation with our beloved. My daughter too has a son who is not yet 2 years and almost everyday we video chat with him and at times he comes home. He is a pleasure to have around. Lovely post. Have a wonderful day. The picture of you and Raayna is so beautiful.

  25. How sweet of your grandchildren to care and love you so much to offer such good advice. Children can see straight through to the simple truth and I don’t think they will stop needing their β€œDadu”.

  26. Agree with you – being with the younger generation is very interesting and a lot of fun. During meditation we are the audience watching ourselves as the actors in the Cosmic movie AND it is very similar to watching movies on screen.
It all feels like”A movie within a bigger Movie” πŸ˜„

  27. Beautiful post Ashokji. Watching and being with happy, innocent and smiling children is no less than meditation. Do spend as much time as possible with them before they grow up and get busy in their world.πŸ’šπŸ’™

  28. Meditation and fun…this is something very interesting. This too brought a smile to my face.
Loved to read your post 😊
    Happy Blogging 🀘

  29. This brought a smile to my face Uncle!! Truly, having a child around is one of the greatest blessings and also one of the biggest reminders to find joy in little things!
