My Forgotten Love and Joy 💕

This post is dedicated to my beautiful and creative niece: Barbara. In her response to the nomination of Small Joy Tag of mine, she had mentioned her love for the sea 🌊

And this made me think: I love the sea so much but hadn’t mentioned it in my list of 15 Small Joys 🤔 One reason of course is that there are hundreds of things that give me joy 😊 and the other was: I had mentioned only those joys which have been around me these past 5-6 months 🤩 and had completely forgotten my amazing last year and my love for sea. Out of sight, out of mind 😇

It was just last year and it appears like another life time! Less than a year ago I had gone to East Coast of North America to see the fall colours. It feels like a dream now! And my visit Around the World and visiting 4 continents in 4 months was earlier last year, and it feels like another life time😇

I love the sky. I can watch it for hours. But the sky doesn’t give me the feeling of infinitude, which the sea does. I can sit for hours watching the vast expanse of sea, lost in a reverie. Sunrises and sunsets on water bodies are simply divine 💖

Guru Nanak Dev, founder of Sikh religion, in his Sukhmani Sahib has mentioned:

Water = Heavenly Father

Earth = Divine Mother

Wind = Guru preceptor

And I have had so many amazing experiences of wind and my Guru, Paramahansa Yogananda. When I am in any water body with wind blowing and hills around – for me that is Heaven.

Sharing some pics of my love with the sea during my 2019 travels around the world:

Brisbane – January 2019

Chandigarh – February 2019

Pokhara, Nepal – April 2019

Montreal and Toronto – Sep, October 2019

Istanbul – October 2019

  1. Hi, ashok!
Thanks a lot for following Suitcase Travel blog! I love your post and pictures. And sea….. ah, it is always mesmerizing me when I look at the water….

  2. Maybe we can have a cup of tea together during my next visit ☕️ 😊

I had shared many posts on my Nepal visit last year. Such a beautiful country 😊💖

  3. Oh yes my son was telling me of fires in California. No, we don’t have fires like that in most of India but have heard of a few in some places in North East.

All the best for Tuesday 😊

  4. Wow your summers are sort of similar to mine then.. do you have fire issues like we do during summer? So you are used to heat like this?

We have heat right now… so once again we are really dry and is a fire danger

This morning I had a notice on my phone about wind advisory on Tuesday 😮

If the winds get too high in speed… they will shut power off 😮 right now they tell us to conserve electricity because of the heat… they do rolling blackouts too… shut off power for an hour or 2 so their system doesn’t get overloaded with everyone running their AC or anything else

My power has not been shut off yet… (and I’ve been working a lot) but Tuesday is a threat. Bleh

Our winters are pretty mild temp wise and is usually a lot of rain. It doesn’t last too long… although this past year (2020) it was cold and rainy up to June – which is really rare! Usually it’s hot and high temps by April/May – but that was not the case this year

2020 has been a crazy year

  5. Very cool!!

We are still in summer currently … Today was about 110 F 🥵

That’s really cool with India though… I had no idea what is like there.

  6. They do change here Omatra but not like East Coast of North America.

California is a great place to live – weather wise 😊💖

We are blessed in India – our lunar calendar has been divided into 6 seasons of 2 months each from way way back. Spring, Summer, Monsoon, Autumn, Light winter (I cant find the word for this in English) and Winter
Just now we are at the end of monsoon.

    Love 🤗

  7. Do colors change like that where you are?

Here in California … eh .. maybe a little – but not like east coast … the climate is very different from East to West.

What are seasons like where you are?

  8. Thank you so much Omatra. Yes Massachusetts is beautiful in fall. My visit to east coast last year was only to see fall colours 💖

  9. Really nice photos! I love the sea too…

Not so much the wind cause it shuts off my power lol (we have fires here)

And I am from the east coast (Massachusetts) Fall is beautiful over there – there are some things I miss dearly about my east coast – my heart is over there. ❤️

Amazing photos – looks like you have taken some really amazing trips!

  10. Wow my dear princess. Your poem is itself a post and better than mine 😇 Beautiful poem

Love, hugs and blessings to Sweeti’s sweetest Saba 💖🤗💖

  11. Gorgeous photos! I love the sea too, how it changes, how it feels, it’s so spiritual. Great post!

  12. Spacious ocean and a vast sky
Pleasant breeze and a sheet of clouds
    Sun diving into the sea
And waves getting mad to touch the sky
    Moon sprinkling scintillas of shine
Calm waves adorning in a moonlight
    Warm rays of fiery sphere
    Getting along with cold breeze
    How much you adore
    How much you love
    These are just the scintilla
    Of the great creation
    Every thread connects you
    To the ONLY CREATOR
    Of this divine love
ALL PRAISE BE TO HIM ❤

  13. ❤ ❤ ❤ I'm so proud & so confused in the same time ❤ ❤ ❤ But as it allowed us to admire all these colors of the sea, all its universe, then I'm very happy to have made you think about this small omission – which becomes a big beautiful post ! Portez-vous bien, mon très cher nouvel oncle ❤ Barbara

  14. Thank you so much Sushmita. God willing you will see the whole world. Who knows we may travel together one day 😊🤗

  16. Wow. All the best Rishika.
You are just a little older than my granddaughter and you are welcome to call me uncle or whatever else comes easily to you 😊

  17. Thank you for sharing the beautiful photographs and memories. One of the pictures where the Sun, the boat and you are there, indeed looks like “Heaven’s Light is your (& our) Guide”

  18. So nice to see those lovely memories of your trips gone by Ashok ji. Absolutely fabulous pictures, and why shouldn’t they be – unspoilt nature is indeed heaven as you mention, and heaven is very beautiful. We have seen so much of the world without traveling recently because of such amazing memories as this. The spirit of freedom and the mind cannot be locked down, however big the pandemic be.

  19. Wow… love the process notes and perspective tips. Have never been to eastern Canada yet. Yes I hope to make a trip there some day if futures allow. Thanks again Ashok. 🙏😊💖

  20. I saw the rainbow twice on two consecutive days. So I guess they are not uncommon 🌈

Some years back I had seen Niagara Falls from the US side but they are more beautiful on the Canadian side. God willing you shall go there soon.

Thank you so much for your love and support Lia 😊🤗

  21. As Rishika said, these photos are indeed jaw-dropping, gave me such an amazing feeling to see that one of Niagra falls with the rainbow… truly spectacular. Not sure if I’ve ever seen such good picture of it, makes me want to visit. Thank you for sharing 🤗🌈🌊🔆🙏🤩

  22. I am soooo glad the post resonated with you Rishika. God willing you shall travel around the world soon. I shall pray for you.

Your boards🤔 you are that young 😇

  23. Wow, Ashokji these pictures are absolutely jaw dropping. I hope to travel and witness the world as much as you have one day. I share a similar love for the ocean, it reminds me of the immensity of life. I was supposed to travel earlier this year after my boards, unfortunately that didn’t happen due to the situation but these pictures made me so happy! Thank you for sharing.

  24. I will keep going back to those pictures; there was one of beautiful dramatic clouds, sunsets — ah, all were just breathtaking. I hope you are keeping well, Ashok.
