Mother I give you my soul call

For more than a year now we have been having online meditations led by monks of Self Realisation Fellowship and Yogoda Satsanga Society of India. These have been God sent during this period of social distancing and lockdowns, when group meditations were suspended.

My guru, Paramahansa Yogananda, has written so much about God as Divine Mother; and has also composed some beautiful chants around God as Divine Mother.

During last Sunday morning meditation we were chanting: Mother I give you my soul call, you canโ€™t remain hidden anymore…and my thoughts went to my mother and I started to cry. I thought if our mother was such pure love, how loving Divine Mother would be. How loving God would be. Guruji has said that if we could see God once, all of us would leave this world and go to Him ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’–

We have been so blessed to have had parents like ours. They were poles apart and yet lived lovingly together for 71 years! The only thing they had in common was โ€” Goodness and immense love for their children. And they loved my wife, their daughter in law, equally or more.

Our parents in years – 1937, 54, 78 and 96

Our parents represented God so beautifully: Our father as Heavenly Father โ€” Wisdom; Our mother as Divine Mother โ€” pure Love.

It saddens me no end when I hear of children, who are deprived of this divine parental love and care; which is their birthright. And the worst is to hear so much of child abuse. I hope and pray that no child is ever deprived of the love of his parents. And that we learn to love all children as our own.

God is Love and Love is all there is.

Stay safe. Stay loved. Keep loving ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–

  1. Ashok, your post reminds us that family is so very important. You were truly blessed to enjoy the loving relationship of your parents, filled with wisdom and pure love.

  2. I am always with you

You are not just liked. You are not someone who I simply think is alright. You are not my past time or someone who is just filling a void. You are not my second choice or a backup plan.

You are cherished and adored with every fabric of my being and just as my heart needs blood running through it to beat, you are the reason it thumps so loud and my need for you is just the same. You are my favourite thought of the day and my favourite person in the world.

You are seen. You are heard and its because of exactly who you are, that you are loved. Always know that no matter what else is happening in our lives, that you are beloved and loved.

The time and always with you.

  6. Thank you so much Kait. Oh yes, they would come true. We become the change we want to see in the world. I love children- all children! And you know – even most grown ups are like my children only ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿค—

  7. I so feel your sadness that our children are not loved as they should be…all of the children of the world are OUR children and we should look after them as such. They are THE future, they are OUR future. Beautifully written from the heart. I hope our wishes come true one day…๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™‚๐ŸŒป๐Ÿงก

  8. So true Deb. Guruji, Paramahansa Yogananda, was always more drawn to Divins Mother and so am I.

I am so glad this resonated with you. Thank you so much.

    Stay safe. Stay loved ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’–

  9. So glad to hear that my thoughts resonated with you Diana. Thank you so much.

You too – stay safe. Stay blessed ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’–

  10. Oh yes Uncle, I know ๐Ÿ˜€ but still others having their weekends can spend quality time with you ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ’–๐ŸŒบ Yes, I enjoyed ๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŒป

  11. A lovely tribute to your parents Ashokji. This is what I have always believed, that mother is God and there is no God greater than a mother. The greatest love that can exist is love of a mother ๐Ÿ’–

  12. Thank you so much for your wise words Prabhu. This awareness and consciousness is slowly gaining ground all over the world. Slowly but surely.

  13. The manifestation of the God, the Parama Purusha is through consciousness (Siva) and energy (Shakti). They are seamlessly integrated yet different. When we are conceived we come into existence through an integration process of these two and then when we are physically brought into this world we have physical representation of these two manifestations of the God and that are our parents, the father representing the consciousness and the mother the energy. We are lucky that we are from that generation that realised this very early in our life. God Bless

  14. Ashok you were so luck to have this Divine Love in your family and I wish I did within our family. I feel so much for the children who do not have such a loving guidance in their lives. Egos get caught up in the way of things and parental and grandparent rights go out of the windows. It is my daily practice to send out love to ALL in the hope it touches someone who needs to grasp this wonderful energy.

  15. Thank you so much Gudia. It is only the divine love which flows through various channels, including your Dadu ๐Ÿ’–

  20. Oh yes Zoya I remember this song so well. Thank you so much for reminding me of this one. It conveys mine and Gurujiโ€™s sentiments so well.

Stay loved. Stay connected to the divine ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’–

  21. Thank you so much my friend. You are the rare one who has caught on to my key thought – how beautiful and loving divine mother would be.

  22. And I am sure Binteโ€™s Bashir was equally wise and loving. And so is Binte Bashir ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’–

  23. Wonderful and beautiful memories shared of your lovely parents, Ashok and yes I completely agree with you a child requires parents who are both loving and kind towards them. They are the ones who nurture us to be good citizens. God is Love and Love must Love. Hope none of the children are deprived of their parents.

  24. I remembered my most favourite song while reading your post.
Perhaps you heard this song.๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ’–

  25. Lovely post dedicated to your parents. Very nice pictures too. 71 years of togetherness that’s so amazing. And, it’s so true that if our mother is so loving, how much loving can the divine mother be!

  26. Such a beautiful post and golden memories. Masha Allah itโ€™s so nice to know that they lived together for 71 years. Itโ€™s indeed a blessing to have parents especially both loving and wise.

  27. Thank you so much for this amazing perspective (may I please know who are you?) my friend.

So true. God is Love and that takes us to Life is Love ๐Ÿ’•
    Or Life simply is..,,

Praying for others is the highest we can do and I do it all the time.

You are wise and loving and am sure you have an amazing life ahead for you.

And thank you for joining me in my joy.

Stay safe. Stay loved. Stay joyous ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿค—

  28. Good morning, Ashok!

When I came to the end of your piece and read the last line, I did realize that, to me, this article was not merely sentimental. The very last line was quite a revelation for me…or at least a re-revelation; as in a reminder that I drive in circles and must revisit all too familiar landmarks because the real destination is a long and arduous journey though (ironically) the end of which is also in sight.

โ€œGod is Love and Love is all there is.โ€ I believe you with all my heart!

This echoes very closely to what I essentially believe of life. โ€œLife is love, and love is life.โ€

All people are fostered through the very life that animates us. โ€œLove is life.โ€ Despite weather any choose some degree of limitation/exclusivity or of the unconditional-inclusion, there is life in every-body. Is this love, and does God reside there in this life? Always, yes!

When we weep for the children who suffer abuse at the hands of any mother, father…stranger, teacher…or who ever any might dare to mention, then there we are given an opportunity to weep…and then pray…and hope and love.

And in praying, we do love God, the abused child and all perpetrators.

None of this is easy, or is it?

Good is love. And Life is love. Is there an implied condition? How inclusive dare we be?

    I pray for courage.

And I weep with you as well.

And I take joy in your loving memory.

And there is honest comfort in your words.

    Peace.

God is Love, and Love is life. And also life is Godโ€™s love.

God bless us all with the courage to face All that love and life bring to bear.

    Amen

  29. I am so glad it touched you and helped you get a clearer understanding of life. We must live today wisely and with love ๐Ÿ’•

Is your blog marked private now or was it like that from beginning?

  30. Beautiful post, sir. I had this realisation in 2020 that in our preoccupations and sometimes, grudges, we forget that as we are growing old the parents are growing older too and these things which hurt us today will no longer matter. What we will remember however, is the love and good times. This post puts so many things crossing my mind into perspective. Thank you for sharing! I must say their smiles are very radiant.

  31. Thank you so much for your reading and kind words my teen friend. You are equally blessed.
    Stay loved. Stay strong ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿค—

  32. This post is so divine and pure from heart….lots of love to you Uncle…….looking at you we can very well guess how wonderful human your parents were…. superb Uncle

Thank you so much for your kind words ๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ’–

  35. Beautiful post, Ashok! Lovely photos. โค Seventy-one years is a long time to be together. I am sure they must have been wonderful parents to have raised six very successful and productive children! I wish all children could be so lucky! Take care, โค

  36. Thank you so much Samreen. I know you have been blessed to have received and give so much love ๐Ÿ’•

    Stay safe. Stay loved ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿค—

  37. Divine eternal love, you have described so beautifully Ashok Uncle, loved it to the core of my heart, splendid yet so moving to read, May all of us be blessed with divine wisdom and pure love ๐Ÿ’–

  38. Thank you so much Deb. In India we do worship God as divine mother. We have just finished a period of 9 days of worship of the divine in different Mother aspects.

    Stay safe. Stay loved ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿค—

  39. I love black & white photos. They certainly have a charm of their own!
If human love in all its forms is so beautiful – then truly Divine Love is beyond description!!
As always your post has set me thinking…..๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ

  40. A very nice piece! I agree, parents are not less than God, but it’s upto us to seek their love, as they are ever ready to shower their blessings.
