There is no God

A few days back I had read a post by Sara, of Life is not an Immune, in which she was saying there is no God. If He was there He would have seen her pain, her suffering. I do understand from where she is coming, and my heart goes out to her. May God ease her pain and give her peace and understanding. And there are so many like her in pain all around. And I keep praying for all.

In my post – My First Love, I had talked of my love for the stars and the sky, and my awe and wonder at the humongous bigness of the universe. I was even more awed or completely bowled when, still in my youth, I learned that ours is an ever expanding universe. My question was : expanding into what? What was there before the universe occupied that space? Nobody could give me any satisfactory answer for decades.

As I matured and started to delve into metaphysics I began to get glimpses of truth. Our rational, thinking mind is too small to understand the infinitude of creation, of God. We can understand it intuitively only. No one can explain God. God can only be experienced.

I believe two opposing forces are continually at work in our universe. One is the attractive power of God, which is Love; and the other is Satan or Maya/Illusion or Iblis. Both these forces came into being at the same time, when creation happened. When the Big Bang happened about 15 billion years ago the outgoing force, the centrifugal force started to pull creation away from the center. That outgoing force is nothing but Satan and is the creation of the Creator only.

The other force is Love, which is pulling us back towards the center, God. And this is a centripetal force. All of creation is subjected to these two opposing forces. And all of us are at different radii from the center, the nucleus; which is nothing but pure love. The further we are from the center that much more restless and unhappy and unfulfilled we are. The closer we are to the center that much happier, peaceful and fulfilled we are.

Love is the cohesive power which is holding the universe together πŸ’•

Though God is Love, He runs His creation with Law, which is unerring. That is His play, His Lila or drama. And this Law is nothing but karma, cause-effect! Our own karma brings us pain at times and we start to disbelieve in His love. But He knows our pain and cries for us but can’t help us till we help ourselves. That is the whole game of creation. Every pure act, every act of kindness and compassion brings us closer to the center, to peace and joy. Every impure act, every act of anger, jealousy, greed and hatred takes us away from the center. And we experience pain and restlessness and unhappiness. It is true, but most of the times it is difficult to understand from our limited perception of one limited life span.

And ultimately the whole of our life, happy or sad, is but a mere dream, a story πŸ˜‡ God is the only reality.

Whole of life is a dream, all of us are actors in the movie of our Creator. As real as any sculpture, any painting, any story; real in their own rights, but never as real as their creator!

God is Love. Love is God. Love is all there is πŸ’•πŸ’–πŸ’•

Fear to Faith – Part I; What do the Moon and the Stars say β™‘οΈβ™’οΈβ™ŠοΈ in our Current World Lockdown Situation

(Pic of YSS Ranchi Ashram (taken on 10th April evening) which was established by Paramahansa Yogananda in 1917 in Ranchi, India)

One good thing with current lockdown situation is that the sky is so clear and beautiful πŸ˜ŠπŸ’•

I have been getting up rather early, and a little south of east, I can see Jupiter, Saturn and Mars in a beautiful arch; in and around the constellation of Capricorn. I love the sky and the stars. I am not an astrologer, but I do believe in astrology (did study it for a while in my younger days 😊) Unfortunately my iPhone is not able to capture this divinely beautiful and still dawn.

A few days back a niece of mine from Guatemala (Blanca, this post is for youπŸ€—) asked me, if I know anything about moon and its effect on the current world situation. I started to put my thoughts together for her but then decided to share it with you all😊

MOON does effect our lives TREMENDOUSLY. And so do all the stars and planets and their movement.

High tides and low tides are caused by the moon. The moon’s gravitational pull generates something called the tidal force. The tidal force causes Earthβ€”and its waterβ€”to bulge out on the side closest to the moon and the side farthest from the moon. These bulges of water are high tides.

Pic from internet

About 71% of the Earth’s surface is covered by water and 29% of Earth’s surface is land. And our bodies too are predominately water πŸ˜‡

According to H.H. Mitchell, Journal of Biological Chemistry 158, the brain and heart are composed of 73% water, and the lungs are about 83% water. The skin contains 64% water, muscles and kidneys are 79%, and even the bones are watery: 31%.

And if moon can cause tides in mighty oceans, just imagine what it can and do to our bodies, which are predominantly WATER

I understand that planet Mars would move to Aquarius ♒️ from Capricorn on the 5th of May; and God willing this would bring some relief.

Difficult times/ Challenges all over the world had started with Lunar Eclipse on the 10th of January in Capricorn ♑️ and this phase would end on the 4-5th of June : the next Lunar Eclipse in Gemini β™ŠοΈ

This is not the last of the year though; there is one more lunar eclipse on 29-30th November; Followed by a Total Solar Eclipse on the 14th of December. That I feel should be the end of this current difficult period.

I Pray, and I Hope, and I Believe that : The current virus situation would end on the 23rd of September, when Rahu leaves Mercury.

We shall all breathe a huge sigh of relief and would be grateful that God has heard our prayers. But would that mean the end of our problems? Doesn’t look like. Rahu enters Taurus ♉️ on the 23rd of September and next 18 months would be very challenging for Indian subcontinent.

At times like these our innate soul qualities of goodness and compassion and kindness come out. They always do: in all natural disasters! And now we are all in it together and our interconnectedness is more perceptible at this time.

But when we go back to our earlier normal world: Once again our competitive spirit would take over and our goodness and compassion would get pushed down (not for all and not the same intensity – as all of us are uniquely different!) So those would be, I would say, even tougher times in a very subtle way. And they will last till about end of next year.

These were and are: difficult times, astrologically, and not only Corona! For most countries for most people : Financial, Health, Relationships – anything and everything.

Do read my blog post of 15th January : Living in Today’s World beset with Turmoil.

Paramahansa Yogananda, author of The Autobiography of a Yogi, has said that astrology is scientific but not easily understood. And that we have the power, we have the consciousness to transcend and mitigate the effect of the planetary movements.

We do not go through difficulties or good times because we were born at a particular time in a particular place; but we were born in that particular time and place because of our past karma ( had discussed it in a little more detail in my last year’s post : Life is a Cocktail) Whatever is happening in our lives: Good, bad or ugly; is our own creation – individual as well as mass karma, cause and effect.

Paramahansa Yogananda had also said that we are in a period of transition to a higher age; and he foresaw (decades back) that in the course of this transition, we would pass through some challenging times.

But he emphasized that those difficulties can be mitigated, and will ultimately be overcome, by the efforts of all who strive to think of God and to express His goodness in their lives.

God is Love; His plan for creation can be rooted only in love….Every saint who has penetrated to the core of Reality has testified that a divine universal plan exists and that it is beautiful and full of joy.

So let us go forward with courage and cooperate with that divine plan by using constructively the power of our thoughts and the will to help ourselves and others, and to Pray for all, because that is the Highest we can do.

In doing so we will not only hasten our own soul’s evolution but contribute toward the positive change that is gradually taking place all over the world.

God is Love and Love is all there is πŸ’•πŸ™πŸ’•

Meditation/Faith/Pray: Cure for all human suffering – Any day any time.

Fear and Faith can’t co-exist. Let us deepen and strengthen our faith πŸ™πŸ™

Let us be cautiously courageous!

But whatever you do or whatever your beliefs : Don’t take life so seriously! It is just a Reality Show!

Seriously – we know so little πŸ˜‡ Keep it simple – Just be happy and spread happiness 😊

Living in Today’s World beset with Turmoil.

We are living in very uncertain times. 2020 has just begun but the news around the world is not exciting – to say the least 😌

Bush fires in Australia, Revolution in Lebanon, President Trump blowing his trumpet in Iraq, PM Modi doing likewise back home… just to name a few. And the blogging world is filled with personal pain and tragedies- child abuse, sexual abuse, gender discrimination, joblessness, physical abuse, depression and what not.

I am rarely given to negativity and usually shun mass media. But it does effect us all once in a while and I am no exception. Luckily I come out of it quickly.

A couple of months back things weren’t so exciting in my dear country and my dearest friend mentioned blood in her post. I was so disturbed and couldn’t sleep for a few days. While meditating one day I vividly remembered Paramahansa Yogananda telling his close disciples: The world is a joke played by Him on us all; don’t take it so seriously. I laughed out loud and that broke the spell 😊I came out of the negative mood I had fallen into. And remembered my own post : Life is a Reality Show

Politicians are same all over the world. Only degrees vary. And then there are behind the scene manipulators, king makers and power brokers. As it is things aren’t exciting but media makes it worse.

What to do? How do we survive in today’s world filled with so much negativity and turmoil? In one of his talks during Second World War, Paramahansa Yogananda had said, Don’t worry, the world is not going to end. Thank God it didn’t! And it is not going to end even now😊

I recently read an article by President and spiritual head of Self Realisation Fellowship (Yogoda Satsanga Society of India) – Brother Chidananda. SRF is a non-sectarian and non profit organisation set up by Paramahansa Yogananda. Swami Chidanandaji wrote of how to deal with the current world situation. That was very enlightening and am sharing a few excerpts:

… This world of duality has always been and will always be a battle ground between light and darkness; but the assault on God’s eternal truths of goodness and moral values can seem perceptibly higher in our era of near-constant exposure to the barrage of a adharma and negativity that infiltrates our inner and outer environments through the Internet and other mass communication media.

But we need not give in to discouragement about the future. Remember that even as social media can magnify the in-harmonious voice of a single person, thereby affecting countless others far beyond that individual’s immediate circle, so there is equal or greater potential to amplify the influence of truth, beauty, goodness, wisdom, compassionβ€” all heavenly qualities of the soul image of God in every human being. ….

The mass Karma that influences the unfolding drama of world events β€” in our present era as in all others β€” is not always understood by limited human intellect. Ultimately, a nation’s leaders are a symptom, not a cause, of the prevailing mix of good and evil in that society, and its mass karma.

While the actions of individual politicians may be of temporary concern, more important in the long term is the need of the masses of individuals to remove the evils of the godlessness, immorality, and adharmic living from their hearts.

If you find yourself too frequently thinking, reading, and talking about what is wrong in the world or in your own life, try to change your focus. Use that time and energy to think good thoughts, to pray, to perform good actions and service and generosity, and to work on becoming a person who exudes kindness, understanding, and cheerfulness. By doing so, you will uplift your own consciousness and that of others…

Aum Amen Ameen Peace

PS: 2020 is a challenging year for all of us, all over the world. Let us hope and pray that our pain, our suffering, which had started with Lunar eclipse on the 10th of January 2020 in Capricorn ♑️ would end on 23rd September 2020, when Rahu leaves Mercury.

Life is a Hurdle Race

And yet another way to interpret life is to look at it like a hurdle race.

Life simply is! It is neither easy nor hard. It simply is about learning and growing. Life keeps throwing challenges at us. It keeps creating hurdles in our lives by ways of health challenges, by way of obnoxious people, by unhealthy relationships, by ups and downs through cyclicity of life and so on. And till we learn the spiritual lesson of that situation or from that hurdle; it will keep repeating itself. Those situations and challenges would keep coming in our life again and again till we learn the lesson. We could say: Life is a school, and we are all students! Till we pass the exam we have to repeat that class again and again!

And after going through some challenging times when we finally learn the lesson we feel so good, so fulfilled, so uplifted! And the moment we relax life quietly keeps another hurdle in our way. And like any hurdle race it would be bigger and tougher! It has to be because the earlier hurdles have made us stronger and better!

Yes we don’t have to keep running all the time. We can rest for a while and enjoy the glory of overcoming the hurdle, of learning the lesson but we need to get up and get going again, if we want to pass the next exam and go for higher degrees!

Is it a must that we go for higher degrees? Do all of us need to be PhDs? Do all of have to be Doctors, Engineers and Lawyers? No, not at all. My life, my choice! As we saw in Life is a Cocktail, it is our karmas which decide the story of our life. And our mass karma decides our collective story. If all of us were in the same class and doing the same subject would life be any fun? Would this reality show attract any audience?

When I look at my grand daughter already burdened with so many subjects to learn and she is just in grade VI 😊 and then I look at some friends and relations so worried about their children’s high school; and some others worried about their professional courses and so on! And children themselves looking forward to finishing their studies and starting to earn and thinking life would be so cool after that! But they don’t know that it gets worse, in a way, with every passing day! Mortgages start and relationship problems start to surface and then the journey with their own children starts! Our studies, our hurdles, our challenges keep getting bigger and tougher with each passing year!

Thank God that I am through all that! And I pray that He gives me strength and wisdom to face the next hurdle, which life is bound to throw at me!

Life is not easy. It never was and never would be. We can make it drudgery, a chore. Or we can make it fun and a sport.

Naseem is no more πŸ˜Œ

Yes, Naseem is no more. She was young and beautiful and she breathed her last early morning today πŸ˜ŒπŸ™

I had met her more than 20 years back and loved her on first sight. Sweet little girl with a beautiful smile 😍 Her mother used to give rides to children on a small merry go round, near the park where I used to go for my walks in Mumbai. That was in late 90s. During my talks with her I realised that she was from a decent family but her husband had to leave his work after a heart attack. She had to start some work to feed the family. One day Naseem had come to meet her and I met her that day for the first time. At that time she must have been around 12-13. Such a sweet girl. Loved her.

I started to take more interest in their lives and helped the girls to go through beautician courses. Fatima, the eldest sister, and Naseem became good at this but other sisters eventually did other work. In India, the not so educated Muslim families don’t worry so much about their daughters education. Their brother finished his graduation and got a good job. Sisters too were working. With God’s Grace I was able to help the father start a tailoring shop. And all was going well once again for them.
Their life story of past 20-25 years so vividly confirms my post: Cyclicity of Life Good times, bad times, good times and very bad timesπŸ˜ŒπŸ™
We came from entirely different backgrounds, social status and religion. And yet there was so much love. Interestingly all the children, as well as the parents call me uncle😊. There are no barriers, no hurdles, no distances, no cast, colour or creed in Friendship; in Love.
Two years back I had gone to Mumbai, when I had heard about Naseem’s sickness, and had taken her to my doctor. Doctor confirmed that the treatment Naseem was undergoing was right. I was relieved but knew that there was only one cure for her disease – prayer πŸ™ Last month I had gone to meet her. Father too is not so well again. Last week Naseem had to be admitted in the hospital. And I was intending to visit her later this week (Am tied up with some organisational work till tomorrow)
But such is life. We know so little!!
In a way I am relieved. Naseem’s suffering is over. She is in very kind and loving Hands now. May God give her family strength and wisdom to deal with her absence. I loved all the children but I was always more fond of Naseem. Have been praying for her during every morning and evening meditation for months.
You will read this and pray for her and get on with your next post and life and forget Naseem. I too will do the same, but may take a little longer. Her family will take longer than me 😌

All of us will forget Naseem. All of us will stop thinking about death. Sad or happy we will continue with our lives.

Was there any meaning to Naseem’s life? Is there any meaning to any of our lives?
Why are you so worried about your job? Your holiday? The grades of your child? Your result? The new car? YOU ARE ALIVE AND NASEEM IS DEAD!! WHY AREN’T YOU GRATEFUL?
It is so amazing that I have been meaning to write about death and life for the past few days. On Thursday I had gone to attend a Spiritual discourse and heard a recording of Dada Vaswani on death. He was the Spiritual Head of the Sindhi community in India and was revered all over the world as a saintly person. I had the pleasure and the privilege of meeting him 3 years back – the only saint I have ever met – a picture of humility and love. That was on Thursday.
On Friday I was to lead the meditation at our center and the reading I chose, incidentally, was Paramahansa Yogananda talking about death!!

During the last month I had written about Life :

All the three are my truths and my experiences of life. And I would like to conclude the topic with today’s post … not that one can ever stop talking about life πŸ˜‡

DEATH IS LIFE ….

Most of us live, as if we shall never die. Most of us die as if we never lived.

Life is absolutely UNCERTAIN. We have no clue what tomorrow may bring. But one thing is absolutely CERTAIN :
WITH EVERY PASSING DAY OUR DEATH IS COMING NEARER!!
Dada Vaswani explained it beautifully. He asked us to meditate on death. And to do it often. And we will realise that it is an illusion. Like I had mentioned in my posts that life is the grandest illusion; so is death. But we are scared of it and we don’t want to think about it. And we don’t want to talk about it. But believe me my dear friend that once you make friends with death you will never be afraid of it. And the quality of your life will grow manifold.
Dada Vaswani gave some practical tips to strengthen our friendship with death :

  1. Establish personal relationship with a god, God or a godly person. A person who is filled with love and devotion. For me it is my Guru, Paramahansa Yogananda, for you it may Krishna, Christ, Buddha, Prophet Mohammad, Mahavira, Zarathushtra….
  2. Rejoice in everything that comes to you. Everything comes from Him.
  3. Be a blessing to others.
  4. The god you worship or the godly person you revere shall be there to receive you when you cross over. He will greet you with love and with a smile and shall ask you just one question: What did you do with your life my child?
  5. Get detached from everything. Use things but don’t get too attached with them. Love people but don’t get too attached with them too. It is these attachments that come in your life as ghosts. They never leave you.
  6. Reduce your desires. Make your life simple.

Dada said Death is simply a Bridge : between the physical and the astral world.

Paramahansa Yogananda says something very similar : he says that our body passes from the dream of physical to the dream astral world. And saint and sinner alike spend some time in the astral world, depending on their karma. And after spending sometime there our unfulfilled desires and strong attachments again force us to come back to the physical plane.

The point my dear friend is : whether you believe in reincarnation or not; whether your belief or your religion is against it or pro; you are going to die and so am I. Death remains the only certainty in this uncertain world. SO :

PLEASE DO NOT WAIT FOR TOMORROW TO LIVE THE LIFE OF YOUR DREAMS.

DO NOT WAIT TILL TOMORROW TO SAY A KIND WORD OR DO A KIND DEED.

Today is the only day that was promised to you.

PLEASE DO NOT WASTE IT : whining, crying, lamenting, blaming, defending, justifying….

SPEND IT : Loving, caring, being happy and spreading happiness and cheer. And when the call comes you will be amply ready…for

HE IS KIND BEYOND COMPARE.

Aum Peace Amen Ameen πŸ™

Life is a Cocktail πŸ·πŸ·πŸ·

Oh yes, Life is a Cocktail. It has 3 ingredients. And the fun or the beauty or the tragedy is that you can’t say no to it. You got to drink it, whether you like it or not!! Three cheers to life🍷🍷🍷

Ingredient 1 — GOD’S PLAN

God, the Creator, has a plan for His creation and for His children. And is the first ingredient of the Cocktail, we call our life. Many saints and sages have talked of this and so have many philosophers and learned men through the ages. And I leave it to you to explore, expound or understand that. I too have my point of view on this and someday i might write more about it.

Ingredient 2 — Soul’s Agenda

I am told every soul comes to earth to learn and to grow. But most of times maya, ego or the illusion makes it forget its plan or its native nature and it gets entangled in the drama of life.

So our soul’s agenda gets mixed with God’s plan and the story of our life gets more complex.

Ingredient 3 — Karma

The third ingredient of the cocktail is our karma. That is our actions and choices of this life and of many past incarnations.

And this makes it a very heady cocktail. An irresistible cocktail. And this also makes our life extremely complex.

My take on life …

I think God, The Creator has written a huge and complex software programme. The first and the biggest of all codes πŸ˜‡ It has infinite variables and combinations.

This programme processes all our actions ( trillions of actions of billions of people, everyday) and balances these with a reaction (cause and effect). Next it factors in the soul’s agenda and writes the next chapter of the journey of our lives. And finally it looks at His plan for us and fine tunes the story.

And the fun begins 😊

When I realised all this 15-20 years back I thought to myself : I don’t know what is God’s plan for my life and I have no clue about my soul’s agenda. Whatever comes to me from my past, my karma I shall bear gladly. Let me do my best today and let go.

That is how my day to day, my practical spirituality developed. It is simple :

1. Non Judgment: How can we ever judge anyone or any situation? We have no clue about God’s plans and souls agendas.

2. Living in the Now: I can’t undo my past. I can’t do nothing about my future. The only thing I have in my hand is this moment. This NOW. Let me do my best and let go.

Do your best and let go my friend. He knows what He is doing and running the world is His Responsibility not yours or mine.

Keep it simple : Be joyous and spread joy. And enjoy the cocktail we call life πŸ˜ŠπŸ’•πŸ·
