When I had published Small Joys Tag with 15 day to day small things which bring me joy, Sujata had mentioned a few small things which bring her joy. I had realised that those things brought me joy too but I hadn’t mentioned those: I had to list 15 things only and my list was hundreds! But more significantly: I think of many such joys with gratefulness. I am grateful for πŸ’― things everyday πŸ™

And this realisation made me think: how closely related Joy is to our feeling of Gratitude. Once we become grateful for every circumstance, every situation, every happening in our life: we shall always be joyous and at peace. And that this gratitude should not be kept only for big and momentous happenings of our lives, but should be expressed in our day to day blessings. We take so many of our blessings for granted, as our birthright!

Always be Grateful to everyone, everything and every circumstance. That’s what our Holy Books say too:

Every living entity, especially persons in the human race, must feel grateful for the benedictions offered by the grace of the Supreme Lord β€” Srimad Bhagavatam 3.19.36

If you give thanks, I will give you more; but if you are thankless, My punishment is dire β€” Quran 14:7

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Jesus Christβ€” Thessalonians 5:16-18

Cosmic Delivery System

Cosmic Delivery System – CDS works perfectly and it works 24/7!

Once a prayer has been said or a wish has been made – He will deliver. The CDS God has set up is infallible. πŸ’― percent satisfaction guaranteed 😊 Whenever we pray for something with a still mind and an expectant heart it is bound to manifest.

But still so very often we feel that He is not listening or is something wrong with ourselves. Why is it that so many are so lucky – everything comes to them easily; and nothing ever works for me πŸ€”

It happens because our wishes or prayers are not clear. They are jumbled and fragmented and they confuse the CDS.

Let us say that you have prayed for a particular house that you desire. And you have also prayed for happiness – happiness for yourself and your family. God in His Infinite wisdom knows that this house will not bring you happiness. If He gives you that house you won’t be happy. So the CDS gets confused.

Let us say that you are desperately praying for a particular job and that you have also been praying for healthy life. And again God in His Infinite wisdom knows that the job you are praying for is going to have adverse effect on your health. So the CDS gets confused.

I went through all this struggle and eventually figured out that it is best to go with His will. Tell Him that this is what I would like to have — the house, the car, job, life partner, a child, a holiday … But then ask Him to grant it only if it is for the highest good of all. And then rest assured that your wishes would be fulfilled in much bigger and more bountiful ways.

Let us say you wanted and prayed for a 3 bedroom 2000 square feet apartment. You also prayed for happiness. If you leave the fulfilment to His will, He might give you a 4 bedroom 5000 square feet penthouse 😊 or a beach house 🏠

I had covered this in detail in my post Intention and Uncertainty.

So my dears pray with single pointed devotion and desire; trusting that CDS never fails and that His will is always more bountiful πŸ’–πŸ™πŸ’–

For last 15-16 years my only prayer to God has been: Give me wisdom.

“Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto thee.” Mathew 6:33

Meditation and Fun πŸ˜Ή

A month or so back my son suggested that I should watch a Netflix series he had recently seen. He told me that it was the kind of stuff I used to enjoy. Maybe he was a little concerned that I was meditating too much during lockdown 😹

I started to watch the series and it was rather good. But I stopped watching it when it had reached the climax. My grand daughter asked me one day why had I stopped watching the series, and I told her that it had started to interfere with my meditation! Her response was: “Dadu (grandpa) do 5 hours of streaming one day instead of 5 hours of meditation and you will forget your meditation 😹

I didn’t take her advice 😊 Last week I wasn’t so well and she told me again, “Dadu do 5 hours of streaming and you will get well immediately!”

Children are so beautiful and it is such fun to be with them. I was reminded of another incidence of 6 years back when I had gone to US. I had visited a niece in Washington DC during that trip. One day we went out with her daughters. At one place there were some small water showers/ falls kind of thing and kids wanted to go and play there. I took this opportunity to sit at a little distance and meditate. After a while I felt someone touching me. I opened my eyes and found my niece’s younger daughter, 6 years old Sanajana, staring into my eyes; and she pulled my arms and said, “Come and have some fun. Don’t meditate all the time!”

How sweet, simple and loving children are! I did join them and had such fun 😻

I can’t explain to my granddaughter that playing hide and seek with my Beloved, during meditation is so much fun too πŸ’–πŸ˜Š

But I so appreciate the love and concern of children. Can’t thank God enough for His blessings πŸ’–πŸ™ Yes, balance is so important – Meditation and Fun 😊

Family Friends Fun

This period, when all are at home all the time has been God sent. I have been able to get so much time with Raayna and have been able to understand and appreciate her much more. Soon she would enter her teens and I don’t think she would have much time for her grandpa πŸ‘΄

Dadu and Raayna 😍

PS: would love to hear of : Any new learnings and experiences that you have had in this new world of ours

Separation Hurts

It does. Separation from our Source, the source of all joy and happiness does hurt. And it is this separation that causes pain and unhappiness in our other relationships too.

Till the time we realise and live this truth: I and my Father are one; we can’t be truly happy.

Once we realise that He is the nearest of the near and dearest of the dear, no separation hurts. Once we start to see Him in all and love all — all separation ceases.

In my post: My Nature is Love I had talked about — Becoming Love. I think the process starts by loving our own selves first and then our immediate family. We keep expanding the circle of our love to include extended family and friends and then our community, city, country and the whole world- including all species. God IS Love and love is all there is.

This world is His dream and merely a Reality Show. Do your part well and above all love Him. Become Love. And you will see there is no separation and even the so called end, is so joyous…truly –happily ever after πŸ˜ŠπŸ’•

Once we become love we realise the truth: From Joy we come, in Joy we live and in that Sacred Joy we shall melt again πŸ’•πŸ’–πŸ’• – together in life and death …Never separate πŸ’•πŸ˜ŠπŸ’•

End of the World

Yes it is the end of the world — as we knew it pre COVID – 19

A world that is filled with love and joy.

A world that is filled with compassion and kindness and understanding.

A world filled with faith, hope and courage.

A Brave New World. A world without boundaries. A world held together and ruled with LOVE πŸ’•

Come and join me…

Am Blissfully Ignorant

Ignorance is Bliss : Have read it since my childhood but experienced it now. Thank you Corona πŸ‘

We had stopped taking news paper more than a decade back, and had stopped watching TV news a few years later. Both these thrive on negativity and sensationalism.

There was so much negativity all around recently that I stopped watching even headlines on my mobile, and Whatsapp forwards 😊

PS: We need to take common sense measures but need to strengthen our faith more πŸ™

Golden Nostalgia

PEC 2020 – how awesome to meet so many friends after 50 years! Last week we had our Global Alumni meet in City Beautiful – Chandigarh, India

Fat, thin, bald, grey …,Some of us were recognisable – and others not πŸ˜‚ But there was such bonhomie, love and laughter πŸ’–πŸ˜‚πŸ’–

What is it that draws people from hundreds, nay thousands of miles to meet old friends and connect with their Alma Mater, in our case Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh?

Friends, the most important pillar of long, happy and healthy lives πŸ˜ŠπŸ’•πŸ˜Š and Gratitude

Amidst us were : Army and Air Force generals and marshals , heads of institutes, business tycoons, philanthropists. One felt proud and at the same time humbled.

And so good to connect with their spouses too πŸ’ƒπŸ»πŸ˜ŠπŸ’ƒπŸ»

I wrote a couple of days back : One good book is better than hundred friends, and one good friend is a library. And here we were amidst hundreds of books and hundreds of friends πŸ“– πŸ“š πŸ‘¬πŸ‘«

Punjab Engineering College welcomed with open arms, Mr. Bikram Singh Garewal, the college’s oldest alumnus. Having graduated in 1943, this imminent personality is a mighty 97-year-old humble man who achieved great feats in life. He served as the Chief Engineer of Patiala from 1971 till his retirement in 1981. Originating from Lahore, he was more than happy to celebrate his birthday today amongst his juniors of various generations in the college where he studied as a young boy.

This college was established in 1921 in Lahore, now Pakistan and next year it would be its centenary. I was so happy when the Director of the institute, in his address said that next year we should attempt to have a truly global meet, where alumni from Pakistan can join too, maybe in a neutral country. Shall look forward to that.

Chandigarh has a very special place in my heart. Not only I grew up here, I got married here too πŸ’•πŸ’– I still have two older sisters living here. So it was a Home Coming for me in more ways than one!

Talking of alma maters there is no way I can ever forget DAV School Chandigarh and principal Hari Ram. I did my high school here from 1962-65. There were so many dedicated teachers under the stewardship of principal Hari Ram. Their breed is rarely heard off in these times; dedicated and selfless. Principal Hari Ram : An educationist par excellence πŸ™

Be a Bliss Billionaire πŸ’•πŸ’•

I would rather be A Bliss Billionaire than a Dollar Millionaire πŸ’•πŸ’•

My grand daughter is very conscious of looking good! And I always tell her happy people always look beautiful 😊😍 😊

It is so very sad to see the bulk of humanity completely lost seeking their happiness and fulfilment in possessions, things money can buy. But it is a mirage😌

Paramahansa Yogananda, author of Autobiography of a Yogi, had often said : Be a Smile Millionaire 😊 πŸ’•And I have heard so many accounts of how happy and cheerful he always was.

The pic above is Paramahansa Yogananda’s last smile. It was taken just an hour or so before his maha samadhi (A Yogi’s conscious exit from the body)

Any unhappy saint would be a sad saint indeed 😊

All the pleasures associated with material possessions and comforts are transitory. They come and they go. But if we dive deep inside us and touch our souls we shall realise our true blissful nature; and we shall see the futility of chasing and looking for happiness in the transitory and the ephemeral.

If we look at life impersonally, we shall be able to see it as The Reality Show it is; every day a new episode. If life didn’t have its ups and downs, it’s successes and failures; it would hardly be worthwhile. To watch the same show everyday, however well made, would be pointless and monotonous. Do not take this show seriously πŸ˜‡

Whatever your role in the changeable mortal life, never forget that you are immortal, and endowed with eternal joy. Your very nature is bliss.

You need not give up your ambitions and live in negation; on the contrary, let everlasting joy, which is your real nature, help you realize all your noble and worthwhile goals.

Make service your goal rather than money, and you will see the entire cause-effect principle of your life change. Abundance will flow in your life. When we act solely to benefit ourselves, such selfishness limits our consciousness, constricting the opening through which abundance, true prosperity and joy flows into our lives.

Let us all be: Smile Millionaires and Bliss Billionaires πŸ’•πŸ˜ŠπŸ’•

Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and its righteousness, and all these things will be added unto thee … Mathew 6.33
