THANKSGIVING and JOY

When I had published Small Joys Tag with 15 day to day small things which bring me joy, Sujata had mentioned a few small things which bring her joy. I had realised that those things brought me joy too but I hadn’t mentioned those: I had to list 15 things only and my list was hundreds! But more significantly: I think of many such joys with gratefulness. I am grateful for πŸ’― things everyday πŸ™

And this realisation made me think: how closely related Joy is to our feeling of Gratitude. Once we become grateful for every circumstance, every situation, every happening in our life: we shall always be joyous and at peace. And that this gratitude should not be kept only for big and momentous happenings of our lives, but should be expressed in our day to day blessings. We take so many of our blessings for granted, as our birthright!

Always be Grateful to everyone, everything and every circumstance. That’s what our Holy Books say too:

Every living entity, especially persons in the human race, must feel grateful for the benedictions offered by the grace of the Supreme Lord β€” Srimad Bhagavatam 3.19.36

If you give thanks, I will give you more; but if you are thankless, My punishment is dire β€” Quran 14:7

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Jesus Christβ€” Thessalonians 5:16-18

HAPPY THANKSGIVING β€” It is Thanksgiving time in Canada!! Being thankful to God all the time would always keep us happy πŸ˜ŠπŸ™πŸ˜Š

Thank you so much for your continued support, encouragement and love πŸ’• πŸ€—πŸ™

Stay happy. Stay grateful. Stay loved πŸ’–πŸ€—πŸ’–

LIEBSTER AWARD πŸŽ‰ πŸ’ πŸ’–

It has been a pleasure knowing Cherryl and am thankful to her for this award. A visit to her Travel and Lifestyle blog is always refreshing, to say the least πŸŽ‰πŸ’

Well here are my answers to Cherryl’s 11 thought provoking questions:

  1. If you were forced to leave the country you live in, but you could choose any other country to be relocated to for the rest of your life, which country would you choose?

Oh that would be sad. But ..

If I have to move it would be to USA, because my Guru, Paramahansa Yogananda, spent more than half of his life there. I would live in LA. Weather in California is great and we have our SRF Mother Center there πŸ‘‡

2. Which animal do you admire the most?

Cats…..Because my princess loves them.

3. If you could dis-invent one thing, what would it be and why?

Money

Money is the root cause of most of the greed, misery and heartburn in the world.

4. If you had the entire world’s attention for five minutes, what would you want to say?

Be aware of the politicians. All of them. There are no exceptions. They manipulate. They distort reality and they play with your mind.

Keep away from media – TV/Newspaper; They thrive on negativity and are completely controlled.

God is Love and Love is all there is. Be kind. Be humane. Serve. Share. Appreciate. Respect. Understand. Don’t run after money and power and sex …. they never ever give lasting happiness. In the end they bring suffering only. Be kind and humane and serve others. This brings far deeper and enduring happiness.

5. Do you think the blogging world is changing in any way?

Everything changes. Blogging is no exception.

6. Is there anything you’d like to do that scares you at the moment?

Parachuting πŸͺ‚

7. What’s your favourite dessert?

Caramel Custard : because my father used to love it.

8. Which social media platform do you use the most?

WP and Whatsapp equally 😊

9. Are you more of a morning person, or a night owl?

Very very morning person 😊

Peace

Stillness

Meditation

10. Share one song that always puts you in a good mood.

It is a Hindi song my wife used to love – Kisi ki muskarahton pe ho nissar (to lose yourself in someone’s smile 😊)

11. Share one random fact about yourself.

Coffee is not my cup of tea β˜•οΈπŸ˜…

I love Lipton Darjeeling tea. Brewed 4-5 minutes. With one teaspoon of sugar and one spoon of milk. Next best is Earl Grey Darjeeling.

Nominations:

I was keen to nominate Lia and Radhika for the Small Joys Tag but that award had limitation of 5 nominees. I would like to nominate them both now and would request them to tell us 11 things: 5 things/thoughts/facts about themselves and 6 Small and Big Joys — Total of 11 πŸ˜‡

Cherryl I do hope you will forgive an old man for not following the Tag process completely.

And all my dear friends — I would so love to hear your answers too, to the questions Cherryl had asked me.

Stay safe. Stay happy. Have more Faith.

My Forgotten Love and Joy πŸ’•

This post is dedicated to my beautiful and creative niece: Barbara. In her response to the nomination of Small Joy Tag of mine, she had mentioned her love for the sea 🌊

And this made me think: I love the sea so much but hadn’t mentioned it in my list of 15 Small Joys πŸ€” One reason of course is that there are hundreds of things that give me joy 😊 and the other was: I had mentioned only those joys which have been around me these past 5-6 months 🀩 and had completely forgotten my amazing last year and my love for sea. Out of sight, out of mind πŸ˜‡

It was just last year and it appears like another life time! Less than a year ago I had gone to East Coast of North America to see the fall colours. It feels like a dream now! And my visit Around the World and visiting 4 continents in 4 months was earlier last year, and it feels like another life timeπŸ˜‡

I love the sky. I can watch it for hours. But the sky doesn’t give me the feeling of infinitude, which the sea does. I can sit for hours watching the vast expanse of sea, lost in a reverie. Sunrises and sunsets on water bodies are simply divine πŸ’–

Guru Nanak Dev, founder of Sikh religion, in his Sukhmani Sahib has mentioned:

Water = Heavenly Father

Earth = Divine Mother

Wind = Guru preceptor

And I have had so many amazing experiences of wind and my Guru, Paramahansa Yogananda. When I am in any water body with wind blowing and hills around – for me that is Heaven.

Sharing some pics of my love with the sea during my 2019 travels around the world:

Guatemala – January 2019

Brisbane – January 2019

Chandigarh – February 2019

Pokhara, Nepal – April 2019

Montreal and Toronto – Sep, October 2019

Niagara Falls, Ontario – October 2019

Istanbul – October 2019
